Clothing.
Traditional: The traditional dress of Zambia was originally that of the indigenous people. The Zambian people would use the environment around them in order to create clothing. Since the introduction to the western world, clothing has become more modest and made from all sorts of materials. However, the traditional bright colors and long skirts can still be seen in most places. Women cover up their entire legs and their chests. Modesty is very important.
Modern: The modern dress of Zambia is different depending on whether in a more rural or urban area. More western like clothing such as t-shirts or higher fashion can be seen in many areas. If visiting some rural areas in Zambia, more traditional clothing should be warn in order to fit the indigenous way of life. Women need to cover up the majority of their skin in order to not be seen as offensive. However, in many areas in Zambia, people wear what is available. In the high poverty of Zambia that could be many different things from the west as seen below in the picture.
